Educaci\u00f3n Moral y C\u00edvica – por Andrea Lages<\/h2>\n

En mis primeros a\u00f1os de escuela, uno de mis materiales favoritos se llamaba Educaci\u00f3n Moral y C\u00edvica.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dependiendo de la \u00e9poca en que cada lector vivi\u00f3 su infancia, sabr\u00e1 a qu\u00e9 me refiero.<\/p>\n

Para los que no conocen, la E.M.C. era una materia formal y obligatoria en las escuelas, que ten\u00eda como objetivo ayudar a formar buenos ciudadanos, los cuales conoc\u00edan sus deberes y derechos.<\/p>\n

Pero este objetivo s\u00f3lo descubr\u00ed recientemente, en aquella \u00e9poca jam\u00e1s me ocurri\u00f3 el significado literal de estas palabras, yo simplemente adoraba pintar los dibujos de las historietas de c\u00f3mic, la bandera de Brasil, y conversar acerca de hechos cotidianos de mi ciudad y padres. \u00a1Eso era mucho m\u00e1s agradable que decorar la tabla o aprender acerca de cosas que hab\u00edan ocurrido y dejado de suceder cientos de a\u00f1os antes de que yo existiera!<\/p>\n

Otro d\u00eda, volviendo en coche a mi casa aqu\u00ed en Londres, observaba a las personas atravesando la calle frente a m\u00ed, y pensaba… \u00bfc\u00f3mo los valores morales de una cultura o regi\u00f3n se reflejan directamente en la realidad cotidiana de toda una naci\u00f3n?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Y pens\u00e9 en todos los pa\u00edses en que ya estuve, que son decenas de ellos, y en culturas de manera general, y c\u00f3mo queda claro percibir cu\u00e1les son aquellos valores establecidos fuertemente desde la cuna, en aquella cultura de la cual esa persona hizo y de la que forma parte.<\/p>\n

Una encuesta de IVH (\u00cdndice de Valor Humano) realizada por la ONU (Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas) mostr\u00f3 que en la opini\u00f3n de los brasile\u00f1os, de forma general, lo que es necesario cambiar en Brasil para la calidad de vida mejorar de verdad es en primer lugar, la educaci\u00f3n, seguida de pol\u00edtica p\u00fablica, violencia, valores morales y empleo. En el Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo hubo una variaci\u00f3n en relaci\u00f3n a la opini\u00f3n nacional, quedando valores morales en primer lugar.<\/p>\n

Muy probablemente, si la misma encuesta se hiciera en Inglaterra o en cualquier otro pa\u00eds, el resultado ser\u00eda otro.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Y ah\u00ed me ocurri\u00f3: Eso vale no s\u00f3lo para pa\u00edses, sino para cada una de las familias y los ciudadanos.<\/p>\n

Si paramos para pensar, veremos claramente c\u00f3mo los valores que vivimos (o no) en nuestra casa, influyen en nuestra vida de manera general.<\/p>\n

En particular, tengo dos valores muy fuertes e inquebrantables, uno es el respeto, el otro la honestidad.<\/p>\n

No puedo imaginar una vida satisfactoria feliz sin la presencia de uno de estos dos valores.<\/p>\n

Y analizando mi realidad, veo como todos en mi casa, tambi\u00e9n adoptaron los mismos valores orientadores, as\u00ed como yo adopt\u00e9 los valores de los dem\u00e1s miembros de mi familia.<\/p>\n

Y en eso pensaba cuando observaba a las personas atravesando la calle… en la tranquilidad en que estaba sintiendo, parada en el sem\u00e1foro, con el cristal abierto, y ni siquiera pensando en chequear el espejito para asegurarme de que nadie se estaba acercando para asaltarme. Y todos alrededor estaban actuando de la misma manera.<\/strong><\/p>\n

El ni\u00f1o que aparec\u00eda tener unos 10 a\u00f1os atravesando la calle solo, con su mochila de escuela, hablando en un iPhone, el ejecutivo con su mochila en la espalda, la cual no intentaba disfrazar la presencia de un ordenador port\u00e1til, y el viejito, que atravesaba la calle tranquilamente con su bengala, sin ser atropellado por los otros peatones y sin preocuparse de terminar de cruzar r\u00e1pidamente, por si la se\u00f1al verde se quedara roja para \u00e9l.<\/p>\n

Y percib\u00ed la raz\u00f3n principal de amar a Londres, es porque las personas y sus valores, construyen una naci\u00f3n y (independientemente del clima meteorol\u00f3gico), construyen la calidad de la vida que poseen. (No me refiero s\u00f3lo a Londres, pero mencionando lo que yo observaba mientras pensaba a este respecto. Claro que amo mucho a Brasil, sin embargo, por razones diferentes.).<\/p>\n

\u00a1Nuestros valores construyen nuestra realidad, siempre y cuando seamos congruentes con ellos!<\/p>\n

Al final, \u00bfde qu\u00e9 sirve valorar la educaci\u00f3n si usted muere de pereza de leer un libro?<\/p>\n

\u00bfO la honestidad si usted se siente feliz cuando recibe un cambio m\u00e1s y no considera devolver la diferencia a la caja de la tienda?<\/p>\n

Volviendo a la educaci\u00f3n moral y c\u00edvica, y sabiendo que ya no es materia obligatoria en las escuelas, \u00bfqu\u00e9 cada uno de nosotros puede hacer para incorporarla en nuestra rutina para as\u00ed contribuir a una sociedad m\u00e1s moral y c\u00edvicamente satisfactoria?<\/p>\n

In my early years of school, one of my favorite subjects was called Moral and Civic Education.<\/strong><\/p>

Depending on when each reader lived his childhood, he will know what I mean.<\/p>

For those who do not know, M.C.E. was a formal and compulsory subject in schools, which was intended to help educate good citizens, who knew their duties and rights.<\/p>

But this goal I only discovered recently, at that time the literal meaning of these words never occurred to me, I simply loved to paint the cartoons of the comic strips, the Brazilian flag, and to talk about the daily facts of my city and country. This was much cooler than decorating the tables or learning about things that had happened and stopped happening hundreds of years before I even existed!<\/p>

The other day, driving back to my house here in London, I watched people cross the street in front of me, and thought\u2026 how do the moral values of a culture or region directly reflect the everyday reality of an entire nation?<\/strong><\/p>

And I\u2019ve thought of all the countries I\u2019ve been to, which are dozens of them, and cultures in general, and how clear it is to understand which are those values established strongly from the cradle, in that culture of which that person did and of which he is a part.<\/p>

An IVH (Human Value Index) survey conducted by the UN (The United Nations) showed that in the opinion of Brazilians, in general, what it is necessary to change in Brazil for quality of life to improve is, first, education, followed by public policy, violence, moral values \u200b\u200band employment. In the State of S\u00e3o Paulo there was a variation in relation to the national opinion, with moral values \u200b\u200bfirst.<\/p>

Most likely, if the same survey were done in England or in any other country, the result would be another.<\/strong><\/p>

And it occurred to me: This applies not only to countries, but also to each of the families and the citizens.<\/p>

If we stop to think, we will see clearly how the values we experience (or not) in our home, influences our life in general.<\/p>

I particularly have two very strong and unshakable values, one is respect, and the other is honesty.<\/p>

I cannot imagine a satisfactorily happy life without the presence of one of these two values.<\/p>

And analyzing my reality, I see how everyone in my house also adopted the same guiding values, just as I adopted the values of the other members of my family.<\/p>

And in that I thought as I watched people cross the street\u2026 in the tranquility I was feeling, standing at the traffic light, with the glass open, and not even thinking about checking the mirror to make sure no one was approaching to rob me. And everyone around them was acting the same way.<\/strong><\/p>

The boy who appeared to be about 10 years of age crossing the street alone, with his school bag, talking on his iPhone, the executive with his backpack, who did not try to disguise the presence of a laptop, and the old man, who walked calmly on the street with his walking stick, not being hit by the other pedestrians, and not bothering to finish crossing quickly, just in case the green light turned red for him.<\/p>

And I realized the main reason for me to love London, is because people and their values, build a nation and (regardless of the weather), build the quality of life they have. (I\u2019m not just referring to London, but mentioning what I observed while thinking about it. Of course, I love Brazil a lot, however, for different reasons.)<\/p>

Our values build our reality, as long as we are congruent with them!<\/p>

After all, what good is it to value education if you\u2019re too lazy to read a book?<\/p>

Or honesty, if you\u2019re happy when you get a little extra change and you don't even consider returning the difference to the cashier?<\/p>
