\u00bfEs real lo que damos por hecho?<\/h2>\n

La respuesta a esta pregunta tiene implicancias directas para la toma de decisiones y para emprender acciones. Entender como nuestro cerebro percibe impactar\u00e1 en nuestras relaciones, negocios y lo que sea que hagamos\u2026<\/h4>\n

Iniciamos un proceso de coaching ejecutivo con el objetivo de que uno de los l\u00edderes de una compa\u00f1\u00eda fuera validado en su rol. Se trataba de una persona altamente eficiente y valiosa para la compa\u00f1\u00eda que ten\u00eda excelentes resultados propios y que sin embargo no lograba posicionarse en el lugar de referente y mucho menos que su equipo obtuviera los resultados esperados. Su jefe apost\u00f3 a \u00e9l porque se permit\u00eda romper paradigmas y mirar sus posibilidades en funci\u00f3n de su liderazgo, en lugar de su desempe\u00f1o. Identific\u00f3 una realidad diferente e invirti\u00f3 en este ejecutivo para promover su desarrollo. El cambio se dio cuando el protagonista de esta historia comenz\u00f3 a percibir de una forma m\u00e1s flexible y atento a nueva informaci\u00f3n. As\u00ed logr\u00f3 contarse un cuento de oportunidades y posibilidades generando de inmediato un cambio de actitud y acciones que fueron claves, no solo para liderar a su equipo sino para motivar, comprometer y lograr resultados a\u00fan mayores que los esperados.<\/p>\n

Quiz\u00e1 te preguntes c\u00f3mo es esto de cambiar realidades. Y para responderte te comento acerca de resultados de a\u00f1os de investigaci\u00f3n que nos acercan a conocer y entender c\u00f3mo funciona nuestro cerebro para descubrir que lo que percibimos es particular para cada uno de nosotros. Nuestra percepci\u00f3n no es del todo fiable, est\u00e1 condicionada por las caracter\u00edsticas de nuestro cerebro y los filtros que imponen nuestras experiencias previas, cultura, educaci\u00f3n, intereses y expectativas.<\/p>\n

La neurocient\u00edfica Kia Nobre, investigadora y catedr\u00e1tica de Neurociencia cognitiva en la Universidad de Oxford, donde dirige el Brain & Cognition Laboratory, asevera que el cerebro utiliza diversos recursos que nos permite hacernos una idea de lo que sucede en nuestro entorno.<\/p>\n

Kia enfatiza acerca de la forma en que a trav\u00e9s de nuestros sentidos atendemos afirmando que, por un lado, fijamos nuestra atenci\u00f3n en sucesos repetidos, lo que nos permite organizar nuestra experiencia y predecir lo que suceder\u00e1 a trav\u00e9s de la anticipaci\u00f3n; y por otro, atendemos a lo nuevo que aparece y dispara se\u00f1ales de alarma que nos exigen contrastarlo con nuestros deseos, expectativas y experiencias previas.<\/p>\n

Nuestra atenci\u00f3n que es selectiva, amplifica y filtra la informaci\u00f3n seg\u00fan las hip\u00f3tesis que nos hacemos; est\u00e1 dirigida por nuestros propios deseos y objetivos y estas hip\u00f3tesis y deseos junto a nuestra memoria almacenada de recuerdos, gu\u00edan nuestros sentidos para percibir y dar significado creando nuestra realidad particular.
\nEsa realidad que creamos como si fuera un cuento nos permite conseguir el trabajo que deseamos, el t\u00edtulo, la pareja, la familia y en definitiva lo que sea que nos propongamos o no, para nuestra vida. Escuchando detenidamente lo que decimos y dice el otro, podemos conocer la forma en que piensa y siente, a partir de lo cual se construye su realidad.<\/p>\n

\u00bfPara qu\u00e9 nos sirve conocer que creamos nuestra propia realidad? Para tener una vez m\u00e1s la certeza que somos protagonistas de nuestra historia y que accediendo a mayor conocimiento propio y de otros, podemos flexibilizar nuestras formas de pensar a partir de cuestionarnos la severidad de nuestras verdades. Adem\u00e1s nos permite una construcci\u00f3n conjunta con los otros, lo que lejos de limitarnos nos genera mayor libertad al darnos cuenta que es tan simple como cambiar el significado de aquello que no nos sirve para construir lo que nos sirve.<\/p>\n

Un dato adicional es que cambiar el escenario cambia la realidad, es por esto que alguien que conocimos en su momento con resultados ineficientes, de pronto cambia de posici\u00f3n o de empresa y se destaca. El lugar que uno decide ocupar en una organizaci\u00f3n \u2013independiente del cargo\u2013 es definitorio de los resultados. Y esto es v\u00e1lido en cualquier edad y situaci\u00f3n, a nivel familiar, educacional, etc.<\/p>\n

Record\u00e1 que relaciones y negocios comienzan, avanzan o se rompen a partir de una realidad que nos contamos y creamos para ensamblar con nuestras experiencias previas, as\u00ed como satisfacer nuestros deseos y expectativas, haciendo que tengan sentido con nuestra forma de pensar.<\/p>\n

\u00bfCu\u00e1les son las evidencias que te confirman o refutan tus teor\u00edas internas \u2013pensamientos y emociones y tus teor\u00edas externas \u2013datos concretos-?<\/p>\n

\u00bfQu\u00e9 diferente podes hacer para atender a nueva informaci\u00f3n?<\/p>\n

\u00bfC\u00f3mo es mirar esa realidad a trav\u00e9s de los ojos de los otros involucrados?<\/p>\n

In my early years of school, one of my favorite subjects was called Moral and Civic Education.<\/strong><\/p>

Depending on when each reader lived his childhood, he will know what I mean.<\/p>

For those who do not know, M.C.E. was a formal and compulsory subject in schools, which was intended to help educate good citizens, who knew their duties and rights.<\/p>

But this goal I only discovered recently, at that time the literal meaning of these words never occurred to me, I simply loved to paint the cartoons of the comic strips, the Brazilian flag, and to talk about the daily facts of my city and country. This was much cooler than decorating the tables or learning about things that had happened and stopped happening hundreds of years before I even existed!<\/p>

The other day, driving back to my house here in London, I watched people cross the street in front of me, and thought\u2026 how do the moral values of a culture or region directly reflect the everyday reality of an entire nation?<\/strong><\/p>

And I\u2019ve thought of all the countries I\u2019ve been to, which are dozens of them, and cultures in general, and how clear it is to understand which are those values established strongly from the cradle, in that culture of which that person did and of which he is a part.<\/p>

An IVH (Human Value Index) survey conducted by the UN (The United Nations) showed that in the opinion of Brazilians, in general, what it is necessary to change in Brazil for quality of life to improve is, first, education, followed by public policy, violence, moral values \u200b\u200band employment. In the State of S\u00e3o Paulo there was a variation in relation to the national opinion, with moral values \u200b\u200bfirst.<\/p>

Most likely, if the same survey were done in England or in any other country, the result would be another.<\/strong><\/p>

And it occurred to me: This applies not only to countries, but also to each of the families and the citizens.<\/p>

If we stop to think, we will see clearly how the values we experience (or not) in our home, influences our life in general.<\/p>

I particularly have two very strong and unshakable values, one is respect, and the other is honesty.<\/p>

I cannot imagine a satisfactorily happy life without the presence of one of these two values.<\/p>

And analyzing my reality, I see how everyone in my house also adopted the same guiding values, just as I adopted the values of the other members of my family.<\/p>

And in that I thought as I watched people cross the street\u2026 in the tranquility I was feeling, standing at the traffic light, with the glass open, and not even thinking about checking the mirror to make sure no one was approaching to rob me. And everyone around them was acting the same way.<\/strong><\/p>

The boy who appeared to be about 10 years of age crossing the street alone, with his school bag, talking on his iPhone, the executive with his backpack, who did not try to disguise the presence of a laptop, and the old man, who walked calmly on the street with his walking stick, not being hit by the other pedestrians, and not bothering to finish crossing quickly, just in case the green light turned red for him.<\/p>

And I realized the main reason for me to love London, is because people and their values, build a nation and (regardless of the weather), build the quality of life they have. (I\u2019m not just referring to London, but mentioning what I observed while thinking about it. Of course, I love Brazil a lot, however, for different reasons.)<\/p>

Our values build our reality, as long as we are congruent with them!<\/p>

After all, what good is it to value education if you\u2019re too lazy to read a book?<\/p>

Or honesty, if you\u2019re happy when you get a little extra change and you don't even consider returning the difference to the cashier?<\/p>
