Educa\u00e7\u00e3o Moral e C\u00edvica \u2013 por Andrea Lages<\/h2>\n

Nos meus primeiros anos de escola, uma das minhas mat\u00e9rias favoritas se chamava Educa\u00e7\u00e3o Moral e C\u00edvica.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dependendo da \u00e9poca em que cada leitor viveu a sua inf\u00e2ncia, saber\u00e1 a que me refiro.<\/p>\n

Para os que n\u00e3o conhecem, a E.M.C. era uma mat\u00e9ria formal e obrigat\u00f3ria nas escolas, que tinha como intuito ajudar a formar bons cidad\u00e3os, os quais conheciam os seus deveres e direitos.<\/p>\n

Mas este objetivo eu s\u00f3 descobri recentemente, naquela \u00e9poca jamais me ocorreu o significado literal destas palavras, eu simplesmente adorava pintar os desenhinhos das historinhas em quadrinho, a bandeira do Brasil, e conversar a respeito de fatos cotidianos da minha cidade e pais. Isso era muito mais legal do que decorar a tabuada ou aprender a respeito de coisas que haviam acontecido e deixado de acontecer centenas de anos antes de eu sequer existir!<\/p>\n

Outro dia, voltando de carro para a minha casa aqui em Londres, observava as pessoas atravessando a rua na minha frente, e pensava… como os valores morais de uma cultura ou regi\u00e3o se refletem diretamente na realidade cotidiana de toda uma na\u00e7\u00e3o?<\/strong><\/p>\n

E pensei em todos os pa\u00edses em que j\u00e1 estive, que s\u00e3o dezenas deles, e em culturas de maneira geral, e como fica claro perceber quais s\u00e3o aqueles valores estabelecidos fortemente desde o ber\u00e7o, naquela cultura da qual aquela pessoa fez e da que faz parte.<\/p>\n

Uma pesquisa de IVH (\u00cdndice de Valor Humano) realizada pela ONU (Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas) mostrou que na opini\u00e3o dos brasileiros, de forma geral, o que \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio mudar no Brasil para a qualidade de vida melhorar de verdade \u00e9 em primeiro lugar, a educa\u00e7\u00e3o, seguida de pol\u00edtica p\u00fablica, viol\u00eancia, valores morais e emprego. J\u00e1 no Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo houve uma varia\u00e7\u00e3o em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 opini\u00e3o nacional, ficando valores morais em primeiro lugar.<\/p>\n

Muito provavelmente, se a mesma pesquisa fosse feita na Inglaterra ou em qualquer outro pa\u00eds, o resultado seria outro.<\/b><\/p>\n

E a\u00ed me ocorreu: Isso vale n\u00e3o somente para pa\u00edses, mas tamb\u00e9m para cada uma das fam\u00edlias e dos cidad\u00e3os.<\/p>\n

Se pararmos para pensar, veremos claramente como os valores que vivenciamos (ou n\u00e3o) na nossa casa, influencia a nossa vida de maneira geral.<\/p>\n

Eu particularmente tenho dois valores muito fortes e inabal\u00e1veis, um \u00e9 o respeito, o outro a honestidade.<\/p>\n

N\u00e3o consigo imaginar uma vida satisfatoriamente feliz sem a presen\u00e7a de um destes dois valores.<\/p>\n

E analisando a minha realidade, vejo como todos na minha casa, tamb\u00e9m adotaram os mesmos valores orientadores, assim como eu adotei os valores dos outros membros da minha fam\u00edlia.<\/p>\n

E nisso eu pensava quando observava as pessoas atravessando a rua… na tranquilidade em que estava sentindo, parada no farol, com o vidro aberto, e nem sequer pensando em checar o espelhinho para me assegurar de que ningu\u00e9m estava se acercando para me assaltar. E todos ao redor estavam agindo da mesma maneira. <\/strong><\/p>\n

O menino que aparentava ter uns 10 anos atravessando a rua sozinho, com a sua mochila de escola, falando em um IPhone, o executivo com a sua mochila nas costas, a qual n\u00e3o tentava disfar\u00e7ar a presen\u00e7a de um laptop, e o velhinho, que atravessava a rua calmamente com a sua bengala, sem ser atropelado pelos outros pedestres e sem se preocupar em terminar de cruzar depressa, por se acaso o sinal verde ficasse vermelho para ele.<\/p>\n

E percebi a principal raz\u00e3o para eu amar Londres, \u00e9 porque as pessoas e seus valores, constroem uma na\u00e7\u00e3o e (independente do clima meteorol\u00f3gico), constroem a qualidade da vida que possuem. (N\u00e3o me refiro apenas a Londres, mas mencionando o que eu observava enquanto pensava a este respeito. Claro que amo muito o Brasil, no entanto, por raz\u00f5es diferentes.).<\/p>\n

Nossos valores constroem a nossa realidade, desde que sejamos congruentes com eles!<\/p>\n

Afinal, de que serve valorizar a educa\u00e7\u00e3o se voc\u00ea morre de pregui\u00e7a de ler um livro?<\/p>\n

Ou a honestidade se voc\u00ea fica feliz quando recebe um troco a mais e nem considera devolver a diferen\u00e7a ao caixa da loja?<\/p>\n

Voltando a educa\u00e7\u00e3o moral e c\u00edvica, e sabendo que ela j\u00e1 n\u00e3o \u00e9 mat\u00e9ria obrigat\u00f3ria nas escolas, o que cada um de n\u00f3s pode fazer para incorpor\u00e1-la na nossa rotina para assim contribuir para uma sociedade mais moral e civicamente satisfat\u00f3ria?<\/p>\n

In my early years of school, one of my favorite subjects was called Moral and Civic Education.<\/strong><\/p>

Depending on when each reader lived his childhood, he will know what I mean.<\/p>

For those who do not know, M.C.E. was a formal and compulsory subject in schools, which was intended to help educate good citizens, who knew their duties and rights.<\/p>

But this goal I only discovered recently, at that time the literal meaning of these words never occurred to me, I simply loved to paint the cartoons of the comic strips, the Brazilian flag, and to talk about the daily facts of my city and country. This was much cooler than decorating the tables or learning about things that had happened and stopped happening hundreds of years before I even existed!<\/p>

The other day, driving back to my house here in London, I watched people cross the street in front of me, and thought\u2026 how do the moral values of a culture or region directly reflect the everyday reality of an entire nation?<\/strong><\/p>

And I\u2019ve thought of all the countries I\u2019ve been to, which are dozens of them, and cultures in general, and how clear it is to understand which are those values established strongly from the cradle, in that culture of which that person did and of which he is a part.<\/p>

An IVH (Human Value Index) survey conducted by the UN (The United Nations) showed that in the opinion of Brazilians, in general, what it is necessary to change in Brazil for quality of life to improve is, first, education, followed by public policy, violence, moral values \u200b\u200band employment. In the State of S\u00e3o Paulo there was a variation in relation to the national opinion, with moral values \u200b\u200bfirst.<\/p>

Most likely, if the same survey were done in England or in any other country, the result would be another.<\/strong><\/p>

And it occurred to me: This applies not only to countries, but also to each of the families and the citizens.<\/p>

If we stop to think, we will see clearly how the values we experience (or not) in our home, influences our life in general.<\/p>

I particularly have two very strong and unshakable values, one is respect, and the other is honesty.<\/p>

I cannot imagine a satisfactorily happy life without the presence of one of these two values.<\/p>

And analyzing my reality, I see how everyone in my house also adopted the same guiding values, just as I adopted the values of the other members of my family.<\/p>

And in that I thought as I watched people cross the street\u2026 in the tranquility I was feeling, standing at the traffic light, with the glass open, and not even thinking about checking the mirror to make sure no one was approaching to rob me. And everyone around them was acting the same way.<\/strong><\/p>

The boy who appeared to be about 10 years of age crossing the street alone, with his school bag, talking on his iPhone, the executive with his backpack, who did not try to disguise the presence of a laptop, and the old man, who walked calmly on the street with his walking stick, not being hit by the other pedestrians, and not bothering to finish crossing quickly, just in case the green light turned red for him.<\/p>

And I realized the main reason for me to love London, is because people and their values, build a nation and (regardless of the weather), build the quality of life they have. (I\u2019m not just referring to London, but mentioning what I observed while thinking about it. Of course, I love Brazil a lot, however, for different reasons.)<\/p>

Our values build our reality, as long as we are congruent with them!<\/p>

After all, what good is it to value education if you\u2019re too lazy to read a book?<\/p>

Or honesty, if you\u2019re happy when you get a little extra change and you don't even consider returning the difference to the cashier?<\/p>
