ONLINE COURSE

Getting started in Team Coaching

From November 3 to 24, 2026

4 sessions, always on Tuesdays

1:30 PM (UK)

This programme is aimed at coaches, who would like to add greater value by working with intact teams, but lack the confidence to do so. It sets out core principles, provides some practical tools and describes how to get started.

Deeply supported by research, it shares good global practice. Participants receive three-month free access to the most powerful Team Coaching diagnostic (worth $400).
At the end of the programme, you will be able to make clear choices about whether team coaching is for you and how to go about developing your competence as a team coach.
How long does the 'Getting started in Team Coaching' program last?
  • The program consists of four 1:30 hour sessions. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays on November, starting at 1:30 PM UK time.
  • Classes will take place on November 3, 10, 17 and 24, 2026.
What are the three primary goals for this course?
  • There are many levels of Team Coaching and it is easy for coaches to become confused. I want them to have sufficient clarity to make good choices about whether and how they evolve their practice to include team coaching.
  • The PERILL team diagnostic has many uses beyond team coaching. By becoming familiar with PERILL, coaches can substantially increase the impact of their one-to-one coaching.
  • I want participants to engage with an evidence-based approach, developing their critical capabilities to enhance their practice.
What are the three main learnings the participants will get from the event?
  • How Team Coaching differs from one-to-one coaching – the additional skills and knowledge needed.
  • How an effective Team Coaching intervention is structured.
  • How to incorporate Team Coaching into your existing practice.
Who is the primary audience for the event?
  • Coaches at any level.
• What will the participants be able to do at the end of the event that they would not be able to do at the beginning?
This is not a Team Coach accreditation course, but it will help you to:
  • Understand whether Team Coaching is for you and what role you want it to play in your portfolio, and
  • Plan your journey to becoming a qualified and capable Team Coach.
How does the program work?

Modules

Why all coaches need to understand team dynamics

Great one-to-one coaching doesn’t just coach the individual client – it coaches them within their systems. Learning to coach teams enhances coaches’ ability to see systems in play; and to help clients bring about systemic change.

In this module, we explore the basic psychology of teams and teaming; and how team coaching both differs from and complements one-to-one coaching.

What affects how teams perform?

We review a wide range of factors that contribute to high or low performance, drawing on seminal research with some of the world’s biggest companies. Ultimately, the evidence from nearly 600 teams globally establishes that performance rests upon the interaction of just six key factors.

We explore these and introduce the PERILL diagnostic, which you can apply to teams, whose leaders you are coaching. The instrument identifies, among other things, how the leader contributes to and gets in the way of team excellence.

What a Team Coaching assignment looks like

In this module, we follow step by step each of the stages in a Team Coaching assignment, from discovery to post-assignment measurement.

How to incorporate Team Coaching into your business offering

For most coaches, the transition into Team Coaching is gradual – you don’t suddenly become a Team Coach. Two things happen in parallel. One is developing your skills and confidence in the role. The other is creating opportunities to pitch.

We explore the most common route (when a leader asks you additionally to work with their team) and opportunities to tender. We review how to blend Team Coaching with other disciplines, such as team building and facilitation. And we explore how to price your work. Finally, we take a brief look at the benefits of partnering with a co-coach.
